My 47cm Trek 2000!
Why/how
I started cycling:
In October 2002, I decided to get serious about losing weight and
getting back into shape. A few months later, I got an old
lifecycle from a friend of mine to supplement my jogging. Then in
April 2003, I went with another friend to watch her race the St.
Anthony's Triathlon. I was hooked. I decided right then that I
wanted to compete, not sit on the sidelines. After a couple of
months of trying to figure out who made frames small enough for my
short legs without spending a fortune on a custom bike, I picked
up my Trek on Fourth of July weekend, 2003. I started riding on
my own and then stumbled onto FCP as they passed me on their
weekend 50 mile rides.
Cycling
Goals: To ride a century and complete some of the long FCP
rides.
Other Goals:
To always
continue to improve myself, whether it's in cycling, triathlon, or
life.
Current Cycling Motivation:
I want to continue to improve my fitness level and get to a point
where I don't always feel like the
weak link during our group rides (especially the dreaded Wednesday
laps)! I also need to have a strong bike leg because my run is so
painfully slow!!
Cycling Accomplishments:
Riding my first of what I hope will
be many 50-mile rides with the
group.
Other Athletic
Accomplishments: Finishing my first Olympic distance
triathlon - the 2004 St. Anthony's Triathlon - with my friend who
got me hooked on the sport.
Worst
crash:
There's only been one, thankfully, and it wasn't that bad - just a
few scrapes and bruises. I'm hoping to keep it that way for a
while!
