Why/how
I started cycling:
Mary Scott
Freeman got me to start cycling consistently in the spring of
2003. She was coaching several of the FCP's spouses on Sunday
afternoon rides.
Cycling
Goals:
I want to
easily do a Flowery Branch 50 and I want to beat other cyclists up
those hills. Do RAGBRAI 2004 in a lot less pain!
Cycling
History/Accomplishments:
My greatest
physical accomplishment ever was the 464 miles I rode in RAGBRAI
2003 in 7 days averaging 19 mph. Riding on the back of a tandem
going 48.5 mph downhill in Iowa was also an accomplishment for me.
Worst
crash:
Fortunately,
all my crashes have been at very slow speeds (one of the reasons I
crash). When Ralph and I first started riding the tandem, we had
not yet mastered stopping. When it was time to get off, he forgot
I was clipped in and just got off the bike and left me there to
splat the pavement.
