Mark Hutson
Nickname:
The Shark
Favorite
bike: 2001 Colnago CT-1
Dream bike: Pinarello Dogma with Campy Record Gruppo.
Number of bikes: I don't have enough fingers to count them.
Why/how
I started cycling: I cycle because you can get to
places faster than on foot! I was pedaling my legs in my
mothers womb. The first bike that I really remember was a
hand-me-down from my two older brothers - a Raleigh Chopper, made
in England. It had a three-speed stick shifter and a twelve
inch front wheel.
Cycling
Motivation: To remain in excellent physical health, so
I can ride bikes with my grandkids.
Cycling
Goals: I want to go as fast as I can... and still have
two beers every night!
Cycling Story: Walking up Hogpen Gap on my first Frazier
Cycling Ride - a humbling experience. I have never walked
again (unless I cramped out).
Cycling
Accomplishments: 1993 BRAG. 2003 Six Gap
Century.
Best Finish: Any time I can hang onto Bill Murphy and Ralph
at speed
Longest Ride: 108 miles (1993 BRAG)
Favorite Bike Ride:
Any ride with Biker Bob.
Worst
crash: 1980 End-over-end tumble resulting with a broken
nose, fractured teeth, front teeth through my lip, and one BIG
scab on my face. I was never able to pull my feet out of my
toe clips.
Interesting
facts: I grew up playing soccer and racquetball. I
missed the "boat" on football, although I had the physique
for it. My best sport was probably racquetball before
I wasted my elbow.
