Paul KellyPaul Kelly APP studied yoga at the Atlanta Polarity Center.  The style taught there can best be characterized as vinni, which implies a  focus on sensitivity, slow progression, & individualized approach.  Paul has continued his study with Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga influence.  His goal is to synthesize these apparently diverse yoga styles into a comprehensive yoga that can be modified depending upon individual or group needs.

One might ask why yoga for cycling?  The surface answer could be that yoga increases strength, stamina and flexibility in a comprehensive way that addresses parts of the body not reached by cycle training alone.  This harmony or balance of body provides more of the necessary elements for the desired goals of cycling which includes less injury.  On a more subtle note, yoga addresses the nervous system in a deep and powerful way.  Through the relaxation created by yoga, one slowly but surely develops an integration of mind and body.  Any professional cyclist will tell you that once the body is spent, it is the mind that carries you further, to the zone if you like.  So the mind is the key.  Cycling can be the vehicle for this alone, but yoga was designed for this purpose specifically and consequently I believe that it will bring the cyclist her or his desired goal more quickly and efficiently.  I look forward to discussing with you how yoga can improve your cycling regime.
